Li Auto Reveals Updated Mega Electric MPV
Li Auto (also known as Lixiang) has shown an upgraded version of its premium Mega minivan in China, which the company describes as a new generation of the model. The updated electric MPV gains a reworked chassis and cabin, a range of new technology, and can now travel up to 710 km on a single charge. Pricing for the new car has not been announced; the outgoing Mega starts at 529,800 yuan, roughly 6.75 million rubles.
A subtle exterior update
The minivan's looks change only slightly: the front bumper has been reshaped, the lighting has been refined, and the door handles are now semi-flush with the bodywork. New wheel designs and additional body colours round out the changes outside.
A cabin built around one giant 29-inch display
Inside, the Mega gains a new infotainment system running on two chips with a combined 2,560 TOPS of processing power. It feeds a huge 29-inch, 6K display built into the dashboard, while the screen previously mounted on the steering column has been removed. In the rear, passengers get upgraded seats that can swivel to face backwards, alongside a new folding table with three positions. Two long glass panels have been built into the roof alongside a new ambient lighting system, and the total speaker count across the cabin has risen to 33.
New driver-assistance hardware
Li Auto has also fitted a new driver-assistance suite, built around four lidar units - a substantial hardware upgrade over the outgoing Mega's sensor suite.
Active chassis tech and rear-wheel steering
The biggest changes underneath centre on active anti-roll bars that suppress body lean through corners, a steer-by-wire system, and rear-wheel steering that can turn up to seven degrees. Together they are meant to sharpen the large MPV's handling and tighten its turning circle for city driving.
Two motors, 562 hp combined, and a 108kWh CATL battery
Power comes from two electric motors with a combined output of 562 hp, drawing from a CATL lithium-ion battery rated at 108 kWh. Li Auto quotes a range of up to 710 km on a single charge for the updated Mega, a meaningful step up for a vehicle of this size and weight class.
Part of a broader Li Auto refresh
Li Auto founder Li Xiang said at the reveal that the Mega would redefine the premium van market, which he described as nearing a turning point comparable to the revolution sparked by the first iPhone. The Mega update follows a mid-summer refresh of the compact L6 crossover, which also picked up new technology and extended range without a meaningful price increase.
Li Auto has not yet confirmed when the updated Mega will reach markets outside China or what it will cost.
