Nissan Unveils Electric Juke and Hints at New Skyline for 2027

Nissan has recently unveiled the first images of its upcoming models set to make their debut in the European and Japanese markets as part of its new product strategy. These exciting launches include the electric version of the Nissan Juke crossover, expected to hit the European market later this year, and the next-generation Nissan Skyline sedan, which will be released in Japan. Both models are anticipated to arrive in showrooms by 2027.

Electric Nissan Juke: A Bold New Design

The Nissan Juke EV introduces a bold and unconventional design that stands apart from any current model in the Nissan lineup. Its exterior gives the impression of being made up of various-sized triangles, while still maintaining the coupe-like silhouette that the Juke is known for. Notable design features include original lighting elements, unique wheel arches, and recessed door handles. Overall, the styling of the Juke EV draws inspiration from the 2023 Hyper Punk concept, which was created for bloggers and artists.

In terms of platform, the electric Juke is expected to share its foundation with the Nissan Ariya and the Renault Megane E-Tech, with power electronics borrowed from the Nissan Leaf. Production will take place at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the UK, and the launch is scheduled for next year. Nissan plans to sell the Juke EV alongside the current hybrid-powered version, giving customers the choice between electrified and traditional hybrid models.

As for the Nissan Skyline, its exterior is also set for a dramatic overhaul. While teaser images suggest the familiar round rear lights will remain, the rest of the design will be radically different from the current model lineup. The new Skyline will not be an electric vehicle, as Nissan has decided to keep it with traditional internal combustion power.

Under the hood, the Skyline will feature a rear-wheel-drive layout and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine paired with a manual transmission, similar to the Nissan Z sports car. This engine setup promises to offer a thrilling driving experience. A version of this model will eventually appear under the Infiniti brand, with a unique design specific to Infiniti’s styling cues.

For the North American market, Nissan has also announced the return of the Xterra SUV. The new Xterra will be built on a traditional frame and will come equipped with a V6 engine. It is set to launch in 2028 and will serve as the foundation for several other SUVs and pickups that Nissan plans to develop in the coming years.

Nissan's latest announcements showcase the company's commitment to both innovation and tradition. The electric Juke and revamped Skyline cater to different market needs, while the rugged Xterra will bring back a beloved model for North American off-road enthusiasts. With these new vehicles on the horizon, Nissan is set to continue leading the charge in the automotive industry, offering a blend of electrification, performance, and durability.
