Updated Zeekr X (2025): Compact Electric SUV Becomes More Powerful and Practical
The Chinese premium EV brand Zeekr, part of the Geely Group, has officially confirmed the debut date for its updated Zeekr X — November 5. Along with the announcement, the company published the first official images of the refreshed compact crossover, finished in a brand-new green body color. Although the overall design remains recognizable, the facelift brings important technical and interior improvements aimed at enhancing everyday practicality.

New Interior: More Functional and Driver-Oriented
According to Zeekr, the 2025 X features a redesigned central section of the cabin. Instead of the previous open storage area and armrest, the model now gets a solid center console with a wireless smartphone charging pad, cupholders, and dedicated rear air vents for passengers in the back. This upgrade improves both comfort and perceived quality, addressing one of the key criticisms of the earlier version.
The dashboard still includes a floating touchscreen infotainment display with Zeekr’s proprietary OS and an instrument cluster integrated into the steering column area, emphasizing the car’s futuristic, minimalist aesthetic.

Technical Upgrades: Up to 496 Horsepower
The main mechanical change concerns the rear electric motor, which has been upgraded from 200 kW (272 hp) to 250 kW (340 hp). As a result, the dual-motor AWD configuration now produces up to 496 hp — a significant increase from the previous 428 hp. This power boost is expected to cut acceleration time to under 4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, positioning the Zeekr X even closer to rivals such as the Tesla Model Y Performance and Smart #3 Brabus Edition.
The car retains its compact footprint:
Length: 4,450 mm
Width: 1,836 mm
Height: 1,572 mm
Wheelbase: 2,750 mm
These dimensions make it ideal for urban driving while providing sufficient interior space for four to five occupants.
Battery and Range Improvements
The current Zeekr X is available with two battery options:
49 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) – range up to 420 km (CLTC)
66 kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) – range up to 560 km (CLTC)
Unofficial reports indicate that the updated model may receive a higher-capacity battery, potentially exceeding 70 kWh, which could push the driving range beyond 600 km. Charging remains DC fast-charge compatible, likely supporting up to 150 kW, allowing 10–80% top-ups in about 30 minutes.

Exterior: Minimal Changes, New Color Palette
While the body design remains mostly unchanged, the refreshed X introduces new paint options, including the exclusive light green seen in official images. Expect revised alloy wheel designs and subtle refinements to the LED lighting signature front and rear. The X continues to feature frameless doors, a floating roofline, and flush door handles, consistent with Zeekr’s design language across its lineup.
Market Position and Pricing
The current Zeekr X is priced in China from 149,000 to 179,000 yuan (approximately $20,000–$25,000 USD). Given the performance boost and enhanced interior, the facelifted version may see a moderate price increase, especially in top trims.
The Zeekr X competes directly with compact EV crossovers such as the Smart #3, Volvo EX30, and BYD Yuan Plus (Atto 3) — all targeting tech-savvy urban drivers seeking premium quality and fast acceleration.
Zeekr’s 2025 Product Strategy
Zeekr had previously announced plans to update four models by the end of 2025:
The Zeekr 001 liftback and 7X SUV have already launched in refreshed form.
The Zeekr X follows as the third model to receive a comprehensive update.
The Zeekr 007 sedan facelift has been postponed to Q2 2026, as the company prioritizes deliveries of the current version due to high demand.
The 2025 Zeekr X facelift shows how Zeekr is refining its most compact SUV to align with the evolving demands of global EV buyers. More power, improved interior practicality, and a potential range boost make the X even more appealing for those who want a premium yet accessible electric crossover.
