Dacia Duster Pickup Debuts in Europe with Hybrid Engines from €26,000
Dacia has surprised the European market by unveiling an unexpected addition to the Duster family — a pickup truck version of the popular SUV. Developed in collaboration with the specialist company Romturingia, this new variant combines the practicality of a four-door cabin with the utility of a compact cargo bed. With a starting price of €26,000, the Duster Pickup is positioned as one of the most affordable hybrid utility vehicles in Europe.

A Bold Transformation of a Bestseller
The Duster has long been recognized as one of the most budget-friendly SUVs in Europe, offering rugged style and accessible pricing. The new Duster Pickup goes a step further, transforming the rear section of the SUV into a flatbed cargo area.
Instead of the standard rear hatch and enclosed trunk, engineers cut the roofline behind the passenger compartment and redesigned the rear bodywork. The result is a cargo platform measuring roughly one meter by one meter, complete with a drop-down tailgate for easier loading. The interior of the bed is finished in durable plastic lining, ensuring resistance against scratches and heavy use.
To protect passengers and improve visibility, the cabin is separated from the bed by a solid partition featuring a transparent window insert. Interestingly, the modification leaves the Duster’s overall dimensions unchanged, and even the original rear light clusters have been retained, giving the pickup a familiar yet fresh look.

Practical Utility with Passenger Comfort
What makes this version particularly attractive is that the Duster Pickup keeps its four-door cabin. Unlike many compact pickups that sacrifice rear seating space, this design maintains full passenger capacity while adding cargo-carrying ability. It’s a true dual-purpose vehicle — ideal for families who need an everyday SUV but occasionally want the practicality of a utility bed.
With a payload capacity of up to 430 kilograms, the pickup can handle household goods, light construction materials, or sports equipment, making it versatile for both urban and rural lifestyles.

Hybrid Powertrain Choices
Dacia also ensured that the pickup version does not lag behind in terms of modern technology. Buyers can select from two hybrid engine options:
1.2-liter mild-hybrid turbocharged engine with 130 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
1.6-liter full-hybrid setup producing 140 horsepower, based on a naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with electric assistance.
Both options balance performance and efficiency, while the all-wheel-drive system on the mild-hybrid model makes the Duster Pickup suitable for light off-road use.

European Availability and Market Position
The Duster Pickup is currently listed on the Romanian Dacia website, offered in three trims that mirror the SUV lineup available in the domestic market. While the pickup has not yet been confirmed for wider release across Europe, interest is already strong thanks to its affordability.
For comparison, in the UK market, the Dacia Duster lineup already includes a cargo-focused van version, but that model removes the rear seats and keeps the SUV silhouette intact. By contrast, the pickup version is much more versatile, combining a genuine cargo bed with full passenger seating.
Affordable Adventure Vehicle
With its mix of rugged design, modern hybrid engines, and the practicality of a pickup bed, the Dacia Duster Pickup is a standout addition to the compact utility vehicle segment. At a starting price of €26,000, it undercuts nearly every competitor in Europe, making it an appealing choice for cost-conscious buyers who need a vehicle that does it all.
While it may not be offered globally just yet, the model demonstrates how adaptable the Duster platform has become — from standard SUV to cargo van, and now to a pickup.
