Brabus Transforms the G-Class into an 800-HP Convertible: The Wildest Open-Top SUV of 2025
The legendary Mercedes-Benz G-Class has taken on countless forms over the decades, but Brabus has just created its most radical interpretation yet. The German tuning house unveiled a fully open-top, five-door convertible based on the Mercedes-AMG G63, delivering an extraordinary 800 horsepower, a bespoke roof mechanism, and craftsmanship levels more typical of a luxury yacht than an SUV. Only 50 units will be produced, making this one of the rarest Brabus creations ever built.

A Five-Door Convertible G-Class: Something That Never Existed Before
Factory-built G-Class convertibles were always two-door models, produced in extremely limited numbers. Brabus went much further by removing the roof from the standard five-door AMG G63. Thanks to the model’s ladder-frame chassis and additional structural reinforcements, torsional rigidity remains nearly identical to the original hard-top version. The result is a true open-air “G-wagon” experience for all passengers, without compromising durability or handling.

A Folding Soft-Top Made from 500 Unique Components<
One of the most impressive engineering feats of this project is its fully reimagined soft-top system. The roof is built from approximately 500 newly developed parts, including linkages, rails, motors, fabric structures, and carbon-reinforced elements. It can open or close in 20 seconds, folding neatly behind both rows of seats and allowing the cabin to remain completely unobstructed.

Brabus added a heated rear glass window for all-season usability, and a carbon-fiber upper frame enhances rigidity while reducing wind noise at high speed. The level of refinement is closer to a luxury grand tourer than a rugged SUV.

Interior Crafted with Yacht-Like Detail
Inside, Brabus gives the convertible an unmistakably exclusive ambiance. The cabin is upholstered in light leather that contrasts dramatically with the deep black exterior. Carbon-fiber surfaces cover the dashboard, door trims, center console, and rear panels. Brabus' signature "Airscarf-style" warm-air outlets are integrated into the headrests, ensuring the passengers stay warm during open-top driving even at night or in cooler seasons.
Every component — from stitching to switchgear — is finished with bespoke detailing, making the car feel more handcrafted than tuned.

800 Horsepower and Supercar-Level Acceleration
The Brabus G-Class Convertible is built around the AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, upgraded extensively to deliver 800 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. This enormous output allows the 2.5-ton convertible to launch from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds — performance firmly in supercar territory.
Top speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h, and the 9-speed automatic transmission has been recalibrated to handle the significant power boost. Side-exit exhaust pipes, positioned under the running boards, deliver adjustable sound levels, from refined to thunderous.

Exterior Enhancements for a More Aggressive Presence
The Brabus signature bodywork includes widened arches, carbon-fiber panels, redesigned bumpers, LED touches, and aerodynamic add-ons. The convertible roofline gives the traditionally boxy G-Class an unexpectedly elegant silhouette, while still maintaining its strong, squared-off identity.
The 24-inch wheels and ultra-wide rear tires dramatically enhance stance and grip, while also contributing to the vehicle’s “hyper-SUV” aesthetic. Despite losing its fixed roof, the car retains full off-road credibility thanks to the G-Class chassis — though its exclusivity makes it more suited to Dubai Marina boulevards than rocky trails.

Production Limited to 50 Units Worldwide
Brabus has confirmed that only 50 units of the 800-hp G-Class Convertible will be produced. Each will be built to individual customer specifications, with nearly unlimited personalization options. As demand for ultra-rare, high-performance SUVs continues to rise, this model is likely to become a collectible from day one.

Brabus XL 800: The Off-Road Supercar
Earlier this year, Brabus also presented the XL 800 — a monster-spec G-Class with 470 mm of ground clearance and the same 800-hp powertrain. While the XL 800 focuses on extreme off-road ability, the new convertible aims to redefine luxury open-air driving in the SUV world.
Both models reflect Brabus’ growing direction: transforming the G-Class platform into ultra-exclusive machines that combine power, design, and craftsmanship at unprecedented levels.

Why Dubai Is the Perfect Market for This Car
Dubai remains one of the world’s most important hubs for ultra-luxury SUVs and high-performance custom vehicles. The Brabus G-Class Convertible is tailor-made for the UAE lifestyle — open-top cruising along Jumeirah Beach Road, unparalleled presence in Downtown Dubai, and extreme exclusivity appreciated by local collectors. With only 50 units worldwide, demand in the UAE is expected to be particularly strong.
