Mercedes-Benz G-Viking by Carlex Design: A Viking-Inspired G-Wagon with Four Custom Rifles

Mercedes-Benz G-Viking by Carlex Design: A Viking-Inspired G-Wagon with Four Custom Rifles

Polish tuning house Carlex Design has unveiled one of its most extravagant projects to date — the Mercedes-Benz G-Viking, a bespoke version of the legendary G-Class that pays tribute to Norse mythology and northern craftsmanship. The one-off vehicle combines intricate detailing, exotic materials, and even comes with four custom-made hunting rifles from VO Vapen, the world’s most exclusive rifle manufacturer.

The G-Viking stands apart from any traditional G-Class with a fully custom body kit, including redesigned bumpers and extended wheel arches — signature touches from Carlex Design. The SUV is painted in a unique two-tone combination of silver and deep brown, with the finish enhanced by diamond dust embedded in the paint.

The roof is the true centerpiece: it features hand-engraved Norse motifs, with intricate patterns inspired by ancient sagas. These engraved elements also appear throughout the body and interior, offering a consistent theme of mythological artistry.

Interior: A Tribute to the Strength of the North

Inside, the G-Viking is entirely reupholstered using custom-dyed leathers, all patinated by hand for a raw, aged look. The most unique material, however, is seal leather, used on the seats and center console. Carlex Design says this choice is a nod to the power and resilience of the North.

The cargo area is transformed into a weapons compartment, housing four pull-out drawers. Inside lie the four rifles crafted by Swedish firm VO Vapen, each stored alongside specialized maintenance tools.

Custom Rifles Named After Norse Gods

Each rifle is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, adorned with precious metals and custom engraving to match the vehicle’s theme. They each bear a distinct name:

Odin

Thor

Loki

Midvinterblot – referencing the famous 1915 painting by Carl Larsson, depicting a Norse sacrificial ritual, housed in Stockholm’s National Museum.

These are not simply display pieces; they were developed exclusively for this project and will not be sold separately.

No Mass Production — Just One Legendary Build

Carlex Design emphasizes that the G-Viking is a one-off, and none of its components, including the rifles, will be offered as standalone items. The price remains a mystery, and will only be disclosed to serious buyers who directly inquire.

This isn’t the first time Carlex has pushed the boundaries of SUV customization. A year ago, the tuner showcased a G-Class themed around the falcon, also featuring an engraved roof — a project that reportedly took four years to complete.
