Fiat Grande Panda: The Compact Icon Reinvented for a Global Future

Fiat Grande Panda: The Compact Icon Reinvented for a Global Future

Fiat has unveiled the Grande Panda in Turin — the first model in a new global lineup that will expand annually through 2027. Designed for international markets and built on the STLA Smart platform, this compact crossover is ready to serve regions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with both electric and hybrid drivetrains at launch.

Measuring 3.99 meters in length, the Grande Panda fits squarely into the B-segment, offering a five-door layout with surprisingly spacious packaging. Its design shares a family resemblance with the Citroën C3, yet stands apart with a strong identity rooted in Fiat’s heritage — especially the iconic Panda of the 1980s.

Powertrain options are expected to include:

A 113 hp electric motor

A 136 hp mild hybrid gasoline engine
A 101 hp petrol version, borrowed from the C3, may also be added later.

Heritage Meets Modernity

Grande Panda’s design blends classic Fiat personality with contemporary ruggedness. Square shapes dominate the front grille, flanked by pixel-style LED daytime running lights in a checkerboard layout. Stamped “PANDA” lettering on the sides and rear adds boldness, while the silhouette and roof rails nod to the original Panda’s utilitarian roots.

Look closer at the C-pillars and you’ll see an optical illusion: depending on your angle, either the FIAT name or its modern four-stripe logo appears in 3D.

At the rear, balanced proportions and upright taillights convey strength and stability. The car sits on 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels featuring a retro-inspired X-shaped center.

The cabin merges nostalgia with innovation. The oval dashboard is inspired by the historic Lingotto racetrack in Turin and houses two floating screens:

A 10-inch digital instrument cluster

A 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen

Fiat paid special attention to space optimization. A total of 13 liters of dashboard storage includes a 3-liter open shelf, reminiscent of the hammock-style compartment from the original 1980 Panda. The center console features an automatic gear selector, two USB-C ports, and a classic metal ignition key.

Materials blend sustainability and fun: bamboo fiber panels, yellow contrast stitching, and playful details like the silhouette of the first Panda visible under a transparent yellow panel. Both front and rear seats have a checkered design with integrated headrests and a stitched message: “Panda made with love in Fiat.”

Compact Size, Impressive Practicality

Though shorter than average for its class, the Grande Panda makes smart use of its space. It offers five full seats and a generous 361-liter trunk — beating both the current Panda (225 L) and even the larger Fiat 500X (350 L).

The Fiat Grande Panda is more than just a new car — it's a modern reinterpretation of an icon. With its expressive design, clever packaging, and flexible powertrains, it's perfectly positioned for urban drivers seeking style, efficiency, and practicality in one compact, global-ready package.

The New Audi A6 Avant: A Business Wagon Reimagined

The New Audi A6 Avant: A Business Wagon Reimagined

Audi has just revealed the latest generation of the A6, now offered exclusively in the Avant body style — a refined and practical station wagon. Even as electric vehicles gain ground, the new A6 Avant sticks to traditional powertrains, including petrol and diesel engines enhanced with a 48V mild-hybrid system called MHEV Plus. Audi clearly separates its internal combustion lineup from full EVs like the A6 e-tron, which is based on the PPE platform.
