Lamborghini Temerario: The Brand’s First Plug-In Hybrid Supercar Redefines Performance

Lamborghini has officially entered the hybrid era with the all-new Temerario, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) supercar that marks a significant departure from the brand’s tradition of naturally aspirated engines. Replacing the Huracán in Lamborghini’s lineup, the Temerario combines raw combustion power with cutting-edge electrification. At the core of this engineering marvel lies a brand-new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, supported by three electric motors — two on the front axle and one integrated into the rear drivetrain.

A New Heart for a New Era

The newly developed V8 engine alone delivers an astonishing 800 horsepower at a screaming 9,750 rpm, an unusually high redline for a turbocharged powerplant. Unlike the long-standing naturally aspirated V10 of the Huracán, this engine was engineered from scratch to mimic the sharp throttle response and linearity of a high-revving NA unit, while providing the torque and efficiency benefits of turbocharging.

Peak torque from the V8 is rated at 730 Nm, and when combined with the electric motors, the total system output climbs to 920 PS (or 907 hp under SAE standards). This hybrid setup is mated to an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering lightning-fast shifts and seamless power delivery across all driving conditions.

Electric Innovation with AWD Precision

The three electric motors are key to the Temerario’s hybrid configuration. Two of them power the front wheels independently, enabling torque vectoring for sharper cornering and superior traction. The third electric motor is sandwiched between the engine and transmission, acting both as a starter-generator and a torque-filler during gear changes and hard acceleration.

With this powertrain layout, the Temerario sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, and continues on to a top speed of 343 km/h, making it one of the fastest production Lamborghinis ever built.

Intelligent Drive Modes and Electrified Range

To fully leverage its hybrid complexity, the Temerario comes with a total of 13 drive mode combinations, made by blending four base settings — Città (City), Strada (Street), Sport, and Corsa (Track) — with various hybrid and EV configurations.

In Città mode, the supercar can run exclusively on electric power, ideal for urban driving or short commutes. The front motors provide up to 187 hp in EV mode, drawing energy from a compact 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged in approximately 30 minutes using a standard household outlet. Regenerative braking and the combustion engine can also recharge the battery on the go.

Aerodynamics and Lightweight Engineering

Aerodynamics and Lightweight Engineering

Temerario’s design is an evolution of Lamborghini's signature styling, featuring a shark-nose front, hexagonal daytime running lights, and a prominent open-engine bay. But every angle and surface of the car has been optimized for aerodynamic performance. Compared to the Huracán EVO, the Temerario generates 118% more downforce, and with the optional Alleggerita package, this figure climbs to 158%.

The car’s structure is built on a new aluminum chassis, utilizing advanced high-strength alloys to increase torsional rigidity by 20% over its predecessor, while also reducing overall weight.

The Alleggerita pack — designed for track enthusiasts — sheds over 25 kg through the use of carbon fiber wheels, a lighter roof panel, and titanium components. It also introduces an even more aggressive aerodynamic kit for maximum track performance.

Enhanced Interior and Digital Experience

Inside, the Temerario offers a more spacious and driver-focused environment. Thanks to a longer wheelbase, cabin comfort is improved with increased headroom and legroom, alongside newly designed comfort sport seats.

The cockpit features three fully digital displays: a customizable driver’s instrument cluster, a central infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated passenger display for entertainment and telemetry viewing. All screens are managed by a unified HMI (Human-Machine Interface), powered by Lamborghini’s latest software architecture, ensuring intuitive interaction and real-time system response.

Advanced Dynamics and Track-Focused Engineering

The Temerario benefits from active suspension systems, including magnetorheological dampers, an electronic rear differential, and an enhanced LDVI 2.0 (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) system that controls torque distribution, steering, and chassis behavior in real time.

New carbon-ceramic brakes with larger rotors improve stopping power and heat dissipation, critical for maintaining consistent braking performance during extended track use.

Expected Price and Availability

While Lamborghini has not officially confirmed the pricing for the Temerario, industry insiders suggest a starting figure around $400,000 USD. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2026, with limited allocations for global markets due to the complexity and exclusivity of the hybrid powertrain.

The Lamborghini Temerario is more than just a replacement for the Huracán — it's a technological leap that sets the tone for Lamborghini's future in the electrified performance space. With nearly 1,000 horsepower, advanced aerodynamics, cutting-edge digital interfaces, and track-ready engineering, the Temerario is a bold declaration that Lamborghini can merge hybrid technology with its uncompromising performance DNA.
