VinFast Unveils Lac Hong 900S and 800S: Vietnam Enters the Ultra Luxury EV Segment

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially revealed two flagship electric models under its new premium sub brand Lac Hong. The luxury sedan Lac Hong 900S and the large SUV Lac Hong 800S are positioned to compete directly with ultra premium icons such as Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach. Market launch is scheduled for 2027, marking a bold step by VinFast into a segment traditionally dominated by European luxury manufacturers.

Lac Hong 900S: Executive Electric Sedan Redefined

The VinFast Lac Hong 900S is a full size electric luxury sedan designed to rival the likes of the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The exterior design combines minimalist body lines with distinctive premium details. The front fascia features a signature grille design integrated with advanced LED lighting technology. Chrome accents and gold plated decorative elements highlight the exclusivity of the model.

The emblem itself takes inspiration from a mythical bird, reflecting Vietnamese cultural heritage. Select trim pieces and badges incorporate gold finishing, underlining the ultra luxury positioning of the brand.

Inside, the 900S focuses on executive comfort. The architecture includes a massive dashboard layout combined with a wide center tunnel and a dual screen monoblock display configuration. High resolution digital displays are seamlessly integrated into the cabin design.

One of the key highlights is the optional rear executive configuration with a partition wall separating front and rear passengers. This partition integrates an additional multimedia display, transforming the rear compartment into a private lounge environment. The two row cabin prioritizes spaciousness, premium leather, handcrafted materials, and advanced ambient lighting.

Technical Specifications VinFast Lac Hong 900S

While full technical data has not yet been disclosed, VinFast has confirmed several core specifications:

Powertrain: Tri motor all wheel drive system
Total output: 625 hp
Drivetrain: Electric AWD
Suspension: Advanced adaptive active suspension focused on comfort
Seating configuration: Two rows, optional executive partition
Estimated launch: 2027

The tri motor configuration suggests a front motor combined with dual rear motors, enabling torque vectoring and enhanced stability. The 625 horsepower output positions the 900S competitively within the ultra luxury EV category, ensuring effortless acceleration despite its large dimensions.

Lac Hong 800S: Luxury Electric SUV for the Modern Elite

The Lac Hong 800S is a full size luxury SUV aimed at competing with models such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Its proportions emphasize elegance over aggressiveness, with smooth body contours and refined detailing.

Like the sedan, the SUV incorporates unique grille styling and sophisticated lighting elements. Chrome and gold accents reinforce the premium image. The SUV retains a two row configuration, focusing on rear passenger comfort rather than maximizing seating capacity.

The interior layout mirrors that of the 900S. A large unified digital display setup dominates the dashboard, while the center console provides an elevated and spacious feel. Gold accented trim and premium upholstery materials further differentiate the Lac Hong sub brand from standard VinFast offerings.

Strategic Move Into the Ultra Luxury Market

VinFast has built its global presence primarily around accessible electric crossovers and sedans. The introduction of the Lac Hong sub brand signals a strategic expansion into the ultra premium segment. By positioning the 900S and 800S against established leaders like Rolls Royce and Mercedes Maybach, the Vietnamese automaker is making a clear statement about its ambitions.

This move also aligns with Vietnam’s broader industrial development strategy, as local manufacturers seek to establish national brands capable of competing internationally. Around the same time, local conglomerate Thaco announced plans to introduce its first domestic microbus model to the Vietnamese market, further highlighting the country’s growing automotive ecosystem.

Can Lac Hong Compete With European Luxury Icons

Entering a segment long defined by heritage brands will not be easy. Ultra luxury buyers expect not only performance and comfort but also brand prestige, craftsmanship, and personalization programs. However, the fully electric architecture and advanced tri motor drivetrain may allow VinFast to differentiate itself technologically.

If the active suspension system delivers a ride quality comparable to leading luxury flagships and the cabin materials meet global expectations, Lac Hong could become a compelling alternative in emerging luxury markets across Asia and potentially the Middle East.

The official market launch in Vietnam is scheduled for 2027. International expansion plans have not yet been detailed, but given VinFast’s previous global ambitions, export markets remain a possibility.
