Lexus NX Facelift Revealed: New Look, Cabin and Powertrains
Lexus has simultaneously unveiled an updated version of the NX crossover for both the European and Japanese markets. The brand's second most popular SUV gains a more contemporary exterior, a redesigned cabin that borrows its architecture from the current-generation ES, and refined hybrid powertrains that promise more power and longer electric-only range. Exact technical figures are still being finalised, but Lexus has already shared a detailed look at what changes buyers can expect.
A bolder, more cohesive exterior
The refreshed NX adopts a calmer, more deliberate design language thanks to a reworked front grille and bumper, along with darkened chrome trim that replaces some of the outgoing car's brightwork. The crossover also picks up new lighting signatures: the headlights now incorporate slim indicator and daytime-running light strips, while at the rear a full-width light bar with L-shaped elements ties the taillights together. The sporty F Sport variant goes further still, with a more aggressive body kit finished in gloss black. Overall dimensions barely change, though the car does grow slightly longer — by around 30 millimetres.
Cabin borrows from the new ES
Inside, the NX has been significantly reworked and now looks noticeably more streamlined. Lexus designers say the clean, straight lines throughout the cabin are meant to amplify the feeling of space. A new infotainment system is paired with 12.3-inch and 14-inch displays running the Lexus Connect software suite. Some physical buttons remain, but in keeping with the minimalist theme they are now concealed, with backlighting that only activates when a hand approaches.
Lexus Sensory Concierge
The facelifted NX also debuts a new comfort feature called Lexus Sensory Concierge. Once activated, the system synchronises music, climate control, ambient cabin lighting and seat temperature, and even controls a scent diffuser built into the climate system. Lexus worked with fragrance house Givaudan to develop a series of exclusive scents for the feature, which can also display themed illustrations on the infotainment screen. Three modes are offered — Inspire, Radiance and Revitalise — each tuned to a different mood behind the wheel.
European lineup: hybrid-only, with more power and range
In Europe, Lexus will offer the NX exclusively with hybrid powertrains built around its latest components. Output from the plug-in hybrid 450h+ has risen from 292 to an estimated 307 hp, while electric-only range is up by nearly 40 per cent to pass 100 kilometres. The gain comes largely from a new, larger battery rated at 23 kWh versus 18 kWh previously. Lexus quotes a 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds for the 450h+.
The non-plug-in NX 350h carries over its 199 hp output unchanged, but thanks to technology carried over from the new ES, battery weight drops from 32.7 kg to 23.5 kg. The all-wheel-drive version sprints to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, while the front-wheel-drive variant needs 7.7 seconds. Lexus has not yet disclosed further specifications for this version.
A dedicated entry-level version for Japan
Japanese buyers will get an additional entry-level variant badged 300h. It swaps the 2.5-litre engine for a 2.0-litre unit, with combined output rated at around 197 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 9.2 seconds. European deliveries of the updated NX are set to begin in spring next year, although order books will open as early as autumn 2026.
Part of a wider lineup reshape
The NX update arrives amid broader changes across the Lexus range. The brand recently extended the life cycle of its LS flagship sedan, while at the same time confirming the end of production for the LC coupe and convertible. Lexus is not expected to replace the LC with a direct successor, and it is possible that the brand's 5.0-litre V8 will exit the lineup alongside it, leaving hybrid and electrified powertrains like those in the new NX to carry the range forward.
