Denza N8 Interior Revealed With a 1.1-Metre Skyline Display
Denza, the premium electric-vehicle brand owned by BYD, has published the first interior image of its new N8 battery-electric crossover. The model is shaping up to be a slightly more compact, possibly more affordable alternative to the three-row Denza N8L. The headline feature of the cabin is a sweeping display of its own, branded Skyline, that stretches 1.1 metres across the dashboard.
A dashboard built around one giant display
The Skyline display is deliberately narrow and is mounted almost flush against the base of the windscreen, where it appears to take over at least part of the role of a conventional instrument cluster — something the N8 does not appear to have in a traditional form. Infotainment and passenger-side functions are handled by a separate, equally oversized 30-inch screen, giving the cabin two headline displays rather than one.
Minimalist design that still keeps physical controls
Despite the screen-heavy layout, Denza has not done away with physical buttons entirely. Controls remain on the centre console, the steering wheel spokes and the door panels. The cabin is also set to offer enhanced-comfort front seats, wireless charging pads and a driver-monitoring camera that watches for signs of fatigue or distraction.
Sized between the N8L and a standard crossover
The N8 shares its 3,075mm wheelbase with the larger N8L, but its overall body is shorter at 5,150mm. The N8 is also strictly a five-seater, whereas the N8L offers a third row of seating. That makes the N8 the more compact, family-sized option in Denza's growing SUV lineup.
Three power outputs, up to over 1,200 hp
Denza will offer the N8 with three distinct powertrain options. The entry-level version uses a single electric motor rated at 425 hp. A mid-range variant steps that up to 503 hp, while the range-topping model pairs three electric motors for a combined output of 1,210 hp — firmly performance-car territory for a family SUV. Denza's own preview material cites a combined range of up to 1,003 km for the new N8 lineup, though full official specifications have not been published yet.
How the N8 differs from the hybrid N8L
The existing Denza N8L, by contrast, is sold with a plug-in hybrid setup: three electric motors working alongside a 2.0-litre petrol engine for range extension. That setup produces 761 hp combined and can cover up to 430 km on electric power alone before the petrol engine steps in. The new N8, by comparison, looks set to be a purer battery-electric proposition, positioning it alongside rather than in place of its larger sibling.
