The American off-road icon has received a hardcore, V8-powered variant dubbed Wrangler Commando, created not by Jeep itself but by Fox Factory, a well-known performance and suspension engineering company. Only 250 units will be built, and the majority will go to veterans and active members of the U.S. military, who must apply and pass a selection process to earn the right to buy one.

A Military-Inspired Beast

Built on the long-wheelbase Wrangler Rubicon chassis, the Commando takes the model’s off-road heritage to new extremes. The base version already comes equipped with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine producing 470 horsepower, but Fox Factory offers an optional supercharger that pushes the output to a staggering 705 hp — more than enough to conquer any terrain or dune.

To handle that power and enhance off-road performance, Fox Factory installs Fox 3.0 internal bypass shocks with remote reservoirs, a custom anti-roll bar, and raises the ride height by 90 mm. Beneath its steel widened fenders sit 17-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 37-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires, ensuring maximum grip and durability even on the harshest trails.

Rugged Design with an Authentic Army Spirit

The Wrangler Commando has been visually and structurally transformed. Traditional steel doors are replaced with tubular “gate” doors, and the roof is substituted with a removable canvas soft top, giving it the unmistakable look of a field-ready military vehicle. The factory hardtop and doors are still included in the purchase, allowing owners to convert it back for more traditional use.

Both the exterior and interior have been customized for the Commando’s unique identity. Every vehicle is finished in olive green paint with military-style decals, while the interior is reupholstered in color-matched leather for a cohesive aesthetic. Additional off-road enhancements include Mopar steel bumpers, a Warn winch, and an optional Magnaflow exhaust system that amplifies the roar of the V8.

Exclusive and Surprisingly Affordable

Despite the extensive modifications, the base price of the Wrangler Commando starts at $69,995 — roughly $30,000 less than Jeep’s own Wrangler 392. Buyers looking for ultimate performance can add the supercharger kit ($11,495), the Magnaflow exhaust ($3,395), and a Warn winch ($3,395).

However, only one vehicle will reach the public auction, while the remaining 249 will be sold exclusively to U.S. military personnel. Applicants must write a personal statement to Fox Factory explaining why they deserve the right to own this special edition — making it one of the most exclusive Wranglers ever built.

Fox Factory’s Expanding Performance Portfolio

This is not the first time Fox Factory has entered the vehicle manufacturing scene. Earlier this year, the company took charge of producing a 650-horsepower Ram 1500 performance pickup, blending the muscle of Dodge’s HEMI engine with Fox’s advanced suspension systems. Unlike the Wrangler Commando, the Ram variant will be available through official Ram dealers across the U.S., targeting a broader audience of off-road and performance enthusiasts.
